Chair Reupholstery Madness - Help! :)

When Lilly Pulitzer first came out with their home decor line, I fell in LOVE with this chair...

Well, fast forward to about 4 weeks ago. I found a chair with the EXACT same bones and wood color on craigslist. I didn't even see it in person, I emailed right away to make sure it was still available and asked my upholstered to scoot down to Kissimmee and pick it up asap.

Now, I've been stuck in a sea of indecisiveness... and I need help!
As you can see, I've gotten a tad out of control on fabric swatches...

First, I thought I'd go with the navy graphic fabric and hot pink piping...
But then I felt like, eh, it's too bold for the room it's going in (it's like a Florida room, one wall is french doors and there is a white couch. And I feel like I'd tire of it quickly.

So, then I saw this Lilly chair and thought, well, I like the large floral print, maybe I'll break from the navy/hot pink.

So, I was at my local fabric shop, and fell in love with this print below. The blues, grays, mustards... LOVED it. BUT... it's linen :( Not right for reupholstering a chair.

Should I chicken out and just cover the chair in the solid gray/blue and then do pillows in the fabric I love?

I also found this fabric online that I liked a lot. But the sample they sent me was awful and tiny and showed the mustard coloring only!

Here are some more that I liked...
Any opinions? Any fabrics out there you love? I'm sure my upholsterer would love to get this chair out of his workshop... I just need to get to it!

Metallic Gold & Chocolate Wedding Invitations

Working with bride Monica last year was such a pleasure. She was always so sweet and I loved that we got to work on so many of her reception items together as well as her invitations. Monica and Jonathan chose the Romantic Wedding invitation suite & reception items in metallic gold and dark chocolate, a beautiful and classic combination.

Monica & Jonathan were married at the Meridian House in Washington, DC. Their photographer was Tom Van Veen from Documentary Associates and his assistant Jen (who did the fabulous and super fun portrait station). Monica & Jonathan planned their DC wedding while living outside of the country and they worked with Heather Sala and Maria Martinez from HJ Planners to help them create the perfect day.

Asher - 4 months

I'm so lucky that my owning Blush Paperie allows me to have so much flexibility. It seems that most Fridays are slower than the rest of the week. And this is a good thing because it allows me more time to hang out with my sweet Asher. I thought it would be fun to give a little snippet of our lives on Fridays.
Last Sunday, he turned 4 months! Where has the time gone!!?? And every month I truly do feel like it just keeps getting better. He is rolling over now and cackling with laughter. He is so much fun and just soooo sweet!

Asher looks JUST like my husband. I mean, really, it's crazy. So I dress him like a mini Mat a lot! haha!

Doesn't it look like his eyes are saying: Hey Lady! Do you notice the big dog beside me? Get me outta here!

New Wedding Invitation Designs!

Whew! I'm so excited to finally get these up on our website! We have 2 new invitation designs to share with you.

The first one is our Scalloped Corner suite. These unique invitations have an inversed scallop edge on the invitation & rsvp. And although they are customizable in any color you'd like, I'm particularly fond of the powder blue & gold combination.

Our second suite is called Calligraphy Monogram. Although it's much simpler than many of our designs, I love it for just that reason. It's so clean and classic. This beautiful font with the simple initials monogram would look so amazing with thermography or letterpress printing!

Lots of new ideas and working on several new designs, hope to share them with you soon! :)

Seeing photos from a client's wedding day is such a treat for me. And I was so happy when Erin emailed me some gorgeous photos from her June wedding. Erin and Tucker chose the Corner Damask wedding invitation suite in cranberry & gray on a beautiful off white linen shimmer stock.

New Font Love

For an invitation designer, sometimes finding a new font can be as exciting as finding the perfect new bag. And this new font (Script Callig) is the font of fonts if you ask me!

I am so excited about this Script Callig that I've built an invitation suite around it...

Lime & Black Wedding Invitations

I had met Tara a couple of times over the last few years. She worked with my husband's brother and was pretty much his "work wife". When Tara came to me for her wedding invitations, I was so happy to work with her. Her and (her now husband) Ryan are really the sweetest couple. I was thrilled when I saw these amazing photos of Tara & Ryan's wedding on Cheri Root's blog and could share them with you.

Tara and Ryan were married at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park and had their reception at the Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Lake Mary, Florida. Tara chose the feather wedding invitation suite and programs in lime & black. The lime & black throughout the wedding day was so fresh & modern. And these photos by Cheri show what a GORGEOUS day it was!

Shari and Jon chose the ballroom wedding invitation suite in green & gold, and I must say, her colors were some of my favorite from the entire year! She chose a custom green that was so soft and pretty but still modern and she paired it with metallic gold.

Gold & Blue Wedding Invitations

By far, gold has become one of the most popular colors in weddings invitations in the last year. It is classic and pairs well with everything.

This past spring I worked with Jennifer on her metallic gold and blue thermography printed invitations. She chose the New Orleans invitation suite and used the always romantic burgues font.

I was so excited that she shared some photos from her wedding by her photographer Evan James French of 207 Photography Cooperative. It looks like a perfect day with a fabulous time had by all!

Las Vegas Wedding Invitation Fun

I knew when Nicki emailed me about wedding invitations for her Las Vegas wedding that her guests were going to have an absolute blast. I knew this because her wording perfectly set the tone. Nicki and Richard met in Las Vegas and even though they live in London, they came all the way to Vegas to throw the party of a lifetime!

Wow... what a year! I have so very, very much to be thankful for!

This time last year, my husband and I had just visited beautiful Barcelona...

Had an amazing trip, saw gorgeous sites, ate incredible food, and met some new friends with an unforgettable night in a local cava bar.

Visited the amazing Costa Brava and Gerona, and then spent Thanksgiving in Germany...

Enjoying their incredible Christmas Markets...

drinking lots of gluhwein (very, very HOT wine) and visiting a few castles.

Then on January 9th... we found out news that would change our lives forever.
And I went from this...(this is me at 20 weeks)

to this. This is me at 40 weeks, swollen and miserable in the Florida heat!
(How scary is this picture!)

And got the best gift in the world...

I have wonderful friends, an amazing family, and an INCREDIBLE husband. And I am SO thankful to do what I love every day. To have incredible, amazing clients that were patient with me during my maternity leave. My clients were so sweet and so happy for my new family and it just made me feel even luckier.

AND on top of all of this... last night, I slept for over 6 hours straight, which hasn't happened in so very, very long. :)
On this Thanksgiving, I can barely begin to count my blessings and all that I have to be thankful for.

Sonia & Andrew's Stunning Wedding

I had the pleasure of working with Sonia, who I was introduced to by my brother in law Stephen, on her wedding invitations & reception items earlier this year. Stephen, Sonia & Andrew were friends from UCF and I'm so glad that I got to work with her, she was so sweet. And what a beautiful wedding she put together... every detail is gorgeous!

Sonia & Andrew were married at the beautiful Leu Gardens in Orlando, Florida.

Sonia chose the petal program fans, which are absolutely perfect for an outdoor wedding!

Their reception was at the History Center in downtown - completely amazing venue!

Sonia & Andrew chose the Whimsical Scroll invitation suite in celadon & chocolate. I designed a hang tag for the groom's favorite drink pitchers, the table numbers and menus to coordinate with their invitations.

I love that they made their getaway in a rick shaw! How sweet!

Elegant Black Thermography Wedding Invitations

While I was on maternity leave, several of my recent brides sent over photos from their wedding. I was THRILLED to see them. It is so much fun to get to see these amazing ceremonies and parties they have planned.

Stephanie sent over some absolutely gorgeous photos of her wedding! It was completely classic, elegant, and modern! Stephanie chose the modified feather invitation suite. These photos were taken by Brian and Amy Grissom of Rogue Art Photography from Brownsburg, IN.

Great news! I am officially back from maternity leave and Blush Paperie is now open. I want to thank everyone for their patience and support, I've appreciated it so much!

It has been a wonderful couple of months getting to know our little guy. I also had a fun time working on his birth announcements which I'd love to share with you...

I chose a die cut folio to hold his photo and birth announcement

I also created a custom envelope liner and incorporated his monogram.

The whale motif from the main announcement was also used on the back of the envelope.

Here's a look at what the folio looks like when it's closed. These are great options for save the dates, when you want to do something really special and include a separate photo. I'll be adding these to our website in the coming weeks.

My Sunshine - Asher Davis Lowery

The sunshine of my life, Asher Davis Lowery, was born on September 22nd. This magical bundle of joy weighed 8 pounds and was 20.5 inches long. My husband & I are loving getting to know him. And although we both have constant bags under our eyes, nothing makes us happier... even his cries are adorable!

When he was 10 days old, we had the fabulous Cheri Root come to our home for newborn photos. Here are just a few of our sweetest Asher...

Baby Lowery's Nursery

I hope you won't mind me interrupting the usual standard of wedding stationery posts to share my latest design with you... Baby Lowery's nursery! :)

With one week until my due date, I am thrilled to say the nursery is finally complete!
Between wrapping up orders with Blush Paperie and moving into a new home everything ended up being pretty last minute.

I had dreams of painting the nursery walls with thick gray & white horizontal stripes... however, since we are renting our new home, that was not to be. I was able to bring in thick horizontal stripes through these curtains I made. The fabric was originally laid out as a vertical pattern, but I cut the fabric in half and sewed it together half way down to create the horizontal pattern.

Lauren (our trusty pup) has already taken her place in the nursery :)
The chair is a wing back chair we had recovered in Waverly's Cross Section in Charcoal. I'm pretty in love with that preppy pattern!

And the little blue & orange cars in front of the upper left gray bin in the book case are actually wooden cars my husband's grandfather made for him when he was a child!

I designed and printed the art work above the dresser. You can't see from this photo, but the whale and sale boat have little gray polka dots in them.

I bought wooden letters at Michael's and covered them with left over fabric from the chair.

The book holders are actually spice racks from ikea, a wonderful (and very thrifty) idea I saw on a home design blog (sorry, I forget which one).

It's a boy....

Yep! I am over the moon with excitement to share with you all the big news....

My husband & I are thrilled to announce we'll be having our first baby in September! We are having a little boy and so far (knock on wood) everything is great. I have been beyond blessed to have absolutely no sickness and almost no symptoms (besides being sleepier than usual). This 3d/4d ultra sound is actually 6 weeks old, but it is the best one we have so far. Today marks 24 weeks for me! :)

How this will affect Blush Paperie orders...
I am planning to close Blush Paperie for maternity leave beginning September 1st. I plan on opening back up some time in November.

I will be posting an announcement soon on the Blush Paperie website with the time lines for placing orders. But please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on how this will affect your invitation or reception items order. We still have plenty of time to accommodate all requests before the store closes.

Real Wedding: Griffin & Thomas

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of working with the mother of the bride on her daughter Griffin's wedding invitations and reception stationery. Griffin's sister, Brittany, of Brittany Weaver Photography, was Griffin's maid of honor and also her photograher and she recently sent over these absolutely gorgeous photos!

It is rare that I get to peek into a client's wedding and I just love seeing everything come together!

Griffin chose our letterpress printed feather wedding invitations in black, held by a black booklet.

Love the intricate strap on this dress! Gorgeous!!

Griffin & Thomas were married at the Powell Crosley Estate in Sarasota... what a gorgeous setting!

Custom Damask Wedding Invitations

Roxane and I have been working together for quite some time on her custom invitation suite. I absolutely love the way everything turned out. There was a lot of mixing & matching which kept things interesting but still unified. And many of the pieces were tied together with their signature initials monogram. All pieces (except the table numbers) were offset printed in black on a beautiful off white shimmer card stock.

Real Wedding: Christie & Chris

Remember last week when I shared Chris & Christie's invitations and reception items with you? Well this morning Christie sent over some of the absolutely amazing photos from her photographer, Michael Mallory. Christie truly thought of everything, all the details are perfect. And as you can see from the photos, she was absolutely radiant!

To carry the double C theme through their big day, Cs were added to the back of the trolley.

I so rarely get to see our seating charts printed and it looks great!

Christie asked all her guests for a photo from their own wedding to display at her wedding. I have never heard of this and I think it's one of the loveliest gestures and a perfect way to include your guests in your big day!

Who doesn't love a bride that lets her bridesmaids choose their own dress! Christie just asked that the dress be long and in her palette (chocolate, red & pink). I really love this trend of everyone wearing a different dress!

Terra's Destination Wedding Invitations

A few months ago I had the pleasure of working with Terra and Damir on their destination wedding invitations. They live in New York and were married in Delray Beach, Florida at the Sundy House. Recently Terra sent me some of her gorgeous photos from her photographer, Elizabeth Monge from Studio-Elizabeth.

I love the gorgeous backdrop of this photo and what a beautiful photo of the stylish couple!

Custom Art Deco Wedding Invitations

I know I say it all the time, but it's true, I have the BEST brides! And working with Christie on her custom Art Deco wedding invitations was fab-u-lous! Since Christie and Chris share the same first initial, one of the first things she new she wanted to use was a fun, repeating C pattern. I love the connected Cs that are on each part of the invitation...

Their invitation, rsvp and reception card all complement each other but are unique in design and have the intertwining Cs

Everything was printed thermography in a custom deep red and chocolate brown. The invitation and rsvp cards had a deep red linen card stock backing.

We even used the design on her outer invitation envelope, a touch I absolutely love!

We carried on the same colors and fonts for her rehearsal dinner invitation but brought in a different look

Christie & Chris had a cocktail party the night before the wedding and used the Big City design to announce it

I worked with Courtney earlier in the year on her wedding invitations and all her reception stationery. She chose the hydrangea invitation design which was a perfect complement to her perfect garden wedding.

Courtney chose thermography printed invitations in a custom deep purple & metallic gold. She also added a gold booklet.

When Courtney recently sent me her photos, by Dionne Haglund with The Shooting Gallery out of Rochester Hills, Michigan I was blown away, the photos are amazing! And the setting of the ceremony, Cranbrook Gardens, was jaw dropping... what a perfect back drop for such a gorgeous wedding...

These Fan programs are perfect for a garden wedding and we designed them to complement her entire suite.

Gorgeous Philadelphia Wedding

Lauri (one of my best girl friends) and Dave were married last month at gorgeous Historic Waynesborough, about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. It was an absolutely gorgeous wedding with many fun details and a beaming bride.

Her fabulous photographer (Mike Smith at Ash Imagery) was kind enough to let me post some of the gorgeous photos...

Always one of my favorite photos, when the bride sees the groom for the first time.

I designed a combination of escort cards using the rose garden and bee motif.

Lauri & Dave love the Dave Mathews Band, so I designed the table numbers which were named after their songs and the lyrics were actually printed in the background.

The reception was held on the lawn under a tent, lined with paper lanterns.
The lawn was also full of fire flies which Floridians, like my husband, who'd never seen them before were totally obsessed with!

Kristine & Alex's Rose Garden Invitations

Congratulations to Kristine & Alex who were married this weekend at the Rose Garden At Cantigny Park in Illinois! I worked with Kristine earlier this year on her gorgeous Rose Garden invitations. Kristine chose a beautiful custom tiffany blue/green color for her design which was thermography printed on 130# white linen stock.

Kristine also chose to do paddle fans for her program which is a fantastic choice for any outdoor, summer wedding.

Kristine sent the sweetest email after receiving her invitations in the mail:

Joey's birth announcements

I recently designed these birth announcements for one of my closest girlfriends.

I was lucky enough to meet baby Joey this weekend on a quick trip to DC. He is hands down one of the cutest and chillest babies I have ever met. My husband and I had a wonderful time catching up with friends and enjoying the amazing spring weather (it's already so hot here in Forida!).

Congrats to our dear friends Jessica & Jason... we are so happy for you and your new incredible bundle of joy.

New Design: Big City Save The Date

This new save the date makes me think of a black tie affair with tons of pizazz. Maybe there are peacocks running around the estate grounds and a big jazz band. White couches are set up in a corner of the tent where guests rest their dancing feet and enjoy the bubbly.

To piggy back just a little from yesterday's post, I thought I'd share some more items that were specially designed for brides to match their Blush Paperie invitation suites...

Emilee ordered the feather invitation sets and was interested in a simple program for her wedding. She didn't need a booklet program, so I came up with a simple, 1 sided 4x9 program to coordinate with her invitation....

Katie ordered the corner damask invitation set in yellow & navy. She wanted a rehearsal dinner invitation to coordinate with the invitations, but not match them. So we used the same colors but a different damask pattern...

Teresa also chose the corner damask for her invitation set but then we used the damask border design to create her menu cards.

I love helping brides come up with the perfect paper for their wedding. So even if you don't see something on our website, let me know what you are thinking, I'm always happy to see what I can come up with.

Palm tree thank you cards and table numbers

Black Thermography Wedding Invitations

Custom Palm Tree Wedding Invitations

Working with Erin & Robert on their custom wedding invitations was such a pleasure. They had a great vision in mind of what they wanted... a palm tree design in navy & chocolate, on light blue paper in a booklet. All of the colors looked great together and the light blue linen added to their wow factor.

The booklet holder (in stardream bronze) frames the invitation while holding the rsvp and inserts with a ribbon on the right panel...

In the last couple of days, I've stumbled upon 2 amazing jewelry designers.

The first is Nooni Jewelry an etsy shop with the most beautiful and unique designs. Wouldn't these be amazing for your bridesmaids or just as a gift for a fabulous friend (I just bought my bff a necklace yesterday for her bday)! I love how the last pair would be perfect for a bride but still down to earth enough to continue to wear after the big day.

The second is Stella & Dot. It seems like everyone has heard of these amazing pieces but me. These pieces seem like the perfect accessory for a little black dress or even a black tank top and jeans. I love simple clothes so these items are perfect to really make your outfit.

It's probably obvious how much I love paper. And much to my husband's dismay (super techie), I still use a wall calendar. I have a hard time finding nice wall calendars though because they are usually of tv shows, animals, or blah. So I decided to create my own and I thought I'd share it with you. Each month I'll provide a link to download the new month.

What an amazing year it's been, both professionally and personally. I love this time of year, to look back at all the amazing brides I've had the opportunity to work with, all of the amazing wedding professionals I've been able to partner with, and doing something I love every day!

Although I sent this out for my holiday card, I think it rings true today as well. It is the most wonderful time of the year. Cheers to an amazing 2010!

New design suite: Flourish Wedding Invitations

This new invitation design, Flourish, is ultra romantic and sweet. I really love the way the fonts play off of each other and the playful bees....

Ashley & Ryan's Ornate wedding invitations in deep red & black

I had the pleasure of working with Ashley several months ago on her & Ryan's wedding invitations. Ashley was wonderful to work with. It was also a fun project because Ashley wanted several pieces I had not yet designed (the ornate menu, program & insert) and I always love the challenge of mixing & matching new pieces to already designed pieces. Ashley & Ryan's items were printed in thermography on our off white linen paper.

Aimee & Kevin's hot pink & navy invitations

I love the hot pink & navy color combination, super fresh & fun. And I love that Aimee and Kevin used this combo with the damask design...

Aimee & Kevin chose thermography printing, making the design and color really pop!

Kara & Ben's fleur de lis invitations

I was just looking through some invitations from this fall and found Kara & Ben's. I thought I'd share it with you because it's a really great example of the flexibility that Blush Paperie offers.

With Kara & Ben's invitations, they asked if they could add a fleur de lis to the invitation... of course! This was a perfect way to set the tone for their event...

Kara also asked if we could do a horizontal rsvp card (this design usually has a vertical). So we designed one for her and it worked perfectly since she had a lot of text for her rsvp card....

Kara also added an insert for a rehearsal reception invitation. We sized these at 4x6 to make sure everything fit and looked great...

Kara & Ben's invitations were printed thermography on off white linen. Everything was printed in chocolate brown. This is another example where 1 color printed thermography looks beautiful! Kara was so great to work with and I wish them tons of happiness. :)

Custom Peacock Wedding Invitations & Reception Stationery

Lindsey & Josh's peacock themed invitations and reception stationery were some of my favorite from the entire year.

Their save the date was a tri-fold. The middle was left blank so that they could attach a photo. They were printed thermography on white linen paper and these pictures can't possibly do these colors justice - in person, they absolutely pop!

For their invitation, we combined an ornate graphic with the peacock feather...

Carrying the thermograph feather design to the envelope -

Their programs were 3 layers connected by a navy satin ribbon.

We switched things up a little and used this fun, vibrant peacock design for some of their reception stationery...

And the menu served as a table number and menu, which their coordinator, Sarah Sleeth of StyleHouse placed in menus on their tables.

Lindsey & Josh were married this past weekend at Maison & Jardin and I can't wait to see photos! I am sure it was a fabulous event!!

Custom invitations - Chicago wedding

Here are some photos of a custom design invitation suite I created for a bride in Chicago. The ornate design was printed in black thermography on 130# off white linen stock. Even though I am a huge fan of color, every time I see an all black invitation printed in thermography, I absolutely love the striking quality and crisp look.

Congratulations to Michele and Jason who were married on November 7th. I hope to see pictures! :)

Confetti Cannons ...

Have you guys heard of these before? I was just reading Lisa from e-events blog and she had a video trailer from Tanya & Carl's wedding and in it there is a scene of confetti cannons going off for their first dance!!! Amazing! You have to check this out. Talk about wow factor!

Tanya & Carl were absolutely wonderful to work with. Sincerely one of the sweetest couples ever! For their invitations, we incorporated a crest with their names and date with our feather design. The invitation & rsvp were held in a chocolate booklet.

Many congrats to Tanya & Carl. From your trailer by Jeffrey Stoner, it sure looked like you had the perfect wedding day :)

Shelley & Danny's wedding featured on Destination I Do Magazine Blog

What great news... I just heard that Shelley & Danny's wedding is featured on the Destination I Do Magazine Blog and will also be in their print magazine.

I just uploaded a new design to the Blush Paperie website, the Palm Tree Wedding Invitation Suite. Perfect for a destination wedding invitation or to announce a beach wedding. It is shown in lime and chocolate with a chocolate card stock backing... I really love the extra dimension of layered invitations!

Yellow & navy wedding reception stationery

I met Shelley & Danny through their wedding planner, Sarah Sleeth of StyleHouse Events. Shelley & Danny chose the romantic design for their invitation suite and then worked with the trellis design for their reception suite. Using the same colors (yellow & navy) throughout everything. Here's their seating chart with the yellow dogwood design in the background...

And their folded thank you card incorporating their initials, the trellis design, and the dogwood.

I love the idea of switching the designs up a little from invitations to reception. The colors keep everything tied in and it's fun to introduce something fresh and new.

Seating chart poster - Menusa & Jeffrey

This seating chart, designed for Menusa & Jeffrey, incorporates the whimsical scroll design. Menusa had a very large wedding so we formatted the seating chart so that couples are on the same line and that the design is in the background, to allow more room for text. The results - a compact chart that still has great design :)

Emille & Nick's program featured in Brides Florida

I picked up the new Brides Florida over the weekend and was thrilled to see a spread on Emille & Nick's beautiful wedding at Paradise Cove. And I was so excited to see that the program I created for them was featured in the article as well. It is a 4x9, 3 layered program, printed thermography in their beautiful chocolate and rust orange colors, with a sheer ribbon at the top.
